*    Amrita Rao was born on 17th Jun 1981 in Mumbai, India in a Brahmin family.

*    Amrita is a strict vegetarian.

*    Her father Deepak Rao has his own Advertising Agency in Mumbai.

*    She has a younger sister Preetika Rao who is also an actress, model and journalist.

*    Her schooling was done at Convent Girls School in Mumbai. She has a degree in psychology from Sophia College in Mumbai.

*    She fluently speaks several languages including English, Hindi, Marathi and Konkani which happens to be her mother tongue.

*    Before entering the Bollywood film industry she did modeling and worked for few commercials. Her first commercial was for Fairever Face Cream done during her college days. Later she endorsed many products like Close-up, 3 Roses Tea, Cadbury’s Perk, D’Damas Jewellery, Parachute Hair Oil, Nestle Bru etc.

*    She made her Bollywood debut with “Ab Ke Baras” in 2002 opposite Arya Babbar, though the movie failed commercially her performance was appreciated.

*    Her first blockbuster movie was “Ishq Vishk” in 2003 opposite Shahid Kapoor and she won “Filmfare Best Female Debut Award” for her role.

*    She won “Dada Saheb Phalke Academy Award” for her performance in Vivah, she was just 25 years old when she received the award.

*    In 2000 decade she worked for major commercial hits like “Ishq Vishk” in 2003 with Shahid, Masti in 2004 opposite Aftab Shivdasani and Vivek Oberoi, Main Hoon Na in 2004 alongside Shahrukh Khan, Sunil Shetty, Sushmita Sen and Zayed Khan, Vivah in 2006 opposite Shahid Kapoor, Athidhi in 2007 opposite Tollywood star Mahesh Babu, Welcome to Sajjanpur in 2008 alongside Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kapoor.

*    In 2010 decade Amrita appeared in Jolly LLB in 2013 Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani, the film was huge commercial hit, it was produced by a Fox Star Studios.
