Bhumika Chawla biography facts 

#  Bhumika Chawla’s birth name is Rachna Chawla. She was born on 22nd Aug 1978 in New Delhi, India.

#  Her parents are originally from Punjab. Her father was an Indian Army officer. Her elder brother is an army officer and she has an elder sister too. Since her father was in army her family had to live in different places following his transfers and she claimed it as it was an opportunity to travel and live in different cultures.

#  Bhumika did her schooling in New Delhi and after completion of her education she moved to Mumbai and started her modeling career in 1997. She worked for several Ad films & video albums before getting to work in films.

#  After few years of modeling career she made her film debut with “Yuvakudu” opposite Sumanth in 2000 and the movie did well at box office and her performance was appreciated by film critics.

#  Her next movie “Kushi” opposite Pawan Kalyan in 2001 was a blockbuster hit of the year and her career got huge boost after that, she won Filmfare Best Actress Award for her performance in Kushi. She delivered few more hits with Okkadu and Simhadri.

#  She made her Tamil film debut with “Badri” opposite Vijay in 2001 and the movie did very well at box office.

#  After gaining prominance in Telugu and Tamil film industry she moved to Hindi films also. Her Bollywood debut was with “Tere Naam” opposite Salman Khan in 2003 and it had an excellent opening at box office.

#  Though majority of her movies are in Telugu she worked in several other languages also including Hindi, Tamil, Bhojpuri, Malayalam, Punjabi etc.

#  Bhumika dated her Yoga Guru Bharat Thakur for four years before marrying him on 21st Oct 2007 in Nashik.

#  She has keen interest in poems and whenever she has some free time she prefers to read poetry. Bhumika herself is a poetess and wrote plenty of poems but very reluctant to publish all of them.
