*    Charlize Theron was born on 7th August 1975 in Benoni, South Africa to Gerda & Charles Theron.

*    Her father was an alcoholic and killed by her mother with a firearm in 1991, the shooting was considered legal as he was drunk and tried to kill both Charlize Theron and her mother.

*    Theron attended ‘Putfontein Primary School’ and ‘National School of the Arts’, Johannesburg.

*    She started her career as a model and she earned a modeling contract at a local competition in Salerno, during this period she and her mother moved several places like Milan, New York City, Miami etc.

*    During her stay in New York Theron attended ‘Joffrey Ballet School’ but left it in middle when her knee was injured.

*    When she was 19 years old she moved to Los Angele to start a film career, after few months she made her film debut with Children of the Corn III in 1995 in a minor role, her next film 2 Days in the Valley in 1996 gained much attention. Her biggest break came in 1997 with The Devil’s Advocate alongside Keanu Reeves and Al Pacino, Mighty Joe Young in 1998 and The Cider House Rules in 1999 did well at box office.

*    In 2000 decade Theron worked for hits like Men of Honor in 2000 with Robert De Niro and Cuba Gooding, Jr., The Italian Job in 2003 opposite Mark Wahlberg and Edward Norton, Monster in 2003 with Christina Ricci and Bruce Dern for which she won Academy Award for Best Actress, Hancock in 2008 opposite Will Smith.

*    In 2010 decade Theron appeared in hits like Young Adult in 2011 alongside Patton Oswalt, Elizabeth Reaser and Patrick Wilson for which she earned nomination for “Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture”, Snow White and the Huntsman in 2012 alongside Kristen Stewart, Sam Claflin and Chris Hemsworth, Prometheus in 2012 with Noomi Rapace, Guy Pearce and Michael Fassbender.

*    Theron is a naturalized citizen of U.S and also retained her African citizenship.

*    In 1990 she dated actor Craig Bierko for two years, in 1997 she started dating Stephan Jenkins, in 2002 she had a relationship with actor Stuart Townsend and the couple broke up in 2010 after 8 years of long relationship.

*    Theron adopted son named Jackson in 2012.

*    Theron is an active member of PETA and participated in its anti-fur campaign.
