Genelia D’Souza biography facts

#  Genelia D’Souza was born on 5th Aug 1987 in Mumbai, India to Neil D’Souza and Jeanette D’Souza. Her father Neil D’Souza is senior official in Tata Consultancy Services, her mother Jeanette D’Souza was working as a managing director in a MNC but left her job to assist Genelia career. She has a brother Nigel D’Souza who is working in Bombay Stock Exchange.

#  Genelia is fondly called as Geenu at home. Her name “Genelia” means “unique”, its derived from her mother and father’s name, Jeanette and Neil.

#  She was doing modeling before coming to films. Her first major commercial was with Amitabh Bachchan for Parker Pen.

#  Her debut bollywood film was “Tujhe Meri Kasam” in 2003 and in the same year she did “Boys” in tamil which went on to be a blockbuster hit of the year.

#  She endorsed many products including Fanta, Fastrack, LG Mobiles, Virgin Mobile India, Garnier Light, Margo, Perk etc.

#  Genelia attended “Apostolic Carmel High School” and “St. Andrew’s College” in Bandra. After completion of her Degree in Management Studies she thought of joining MNC but landed in films accidentally. While at college she was very involved in sports and she was a national level football player.

#  She hit the tabloid headlines when she was reported to have attended IIFA Awards 2010 in Colombo, South Indian actors boycotted the event protesting the alleged killing of Tamilian civilians by Lankan Army during LLTE clash.

#  In 2011 it was reported that during the filming of “Force” she was actually married to John Abraham because of the authentic rituals and real priest used instead of an artist. The real priest who did the marriage sequence complained that she can’t marry Ritesh Deshmukh since her marriage is already done with John with mangalsutra and seven steps. But she dismissed such incidents stating it as a publicity stunt.

#  D’Souza married Ritesh Deshmukh on 3rd Feb 2012 as per Hindu traditions and on following day She married him again according to Roman Catholic ceremonies in Bandra.
