At last the hot couples of kollywood wedded on 11th September 2006, ending all the rumours about them..!!  Here are some interesting facts about their marriage.

Jyothika & Surya before Wedding

#  Jyothika dated Tamil actor Surya Sivakumar for over 3 years, the romance between Surya and Jyothika the most talked about stars relationship in Tamil film industry. Both of them have a large fan base and are acknowledged as the most popular South Indian Celebrities.

#  Jyotika and Surya acted together for the first time in ‘Poovellam kettu paar’. Later it was followed by ‘Uyirile Kalandadhu’ and Kaakha Kaakha. Their on-screen chemistry  was apparent in Tamil super hit movie ‘Kaakka Kaakka’ . It was then the relationship between them got strengthened and started to feed the gossip columns of local tabloids..!! Its during the shooting of the film that they fell in love and decided to stay together for the rest of life.

#  Though the local media has linked the two celebrities for a long time, neither of them denied the issued, though didnt accept it openly. It was their silence which made the fans and media more curious..!!

#   Jyotika disclosed for the first time in an interview to Telugu daily Eenadu that they will be marrying soon..!! Even Surya admitted their relationship and said that they would get married only after his sisters marriage.

#  Jyotika’s absence at the marriage of  Brinda Surya’s sister had generated a lot of buzz. There were rumours about Surya’s father, Siva Kumar, being against the marriage of Jyothika and Surya.

#  On September 11, at a private ceremony in Chennai’s Hotel Park Sheraton, Surya and Jyothika became husband and wife after a three-year affair.

#  On September 11 2006 Surya and Jyothika’s wedding ceremony took place in Chennai’s Hotel Park Sheraton, ending all the rumours of three long years. Suriya tied the sacred thread around Jyotika’s neck at Park Sheraton Hotel, Adyar. The marriage ceremony started arround at 7.00 a.m. morning. It was the much awaited day for everyone in the industry and the fans of Jyotika and Suriya.

#  Surya was dressed in a white silk dhothi and silk shirt. He walked to the stage to receive the blessings from his parents. Jyothika dressed in a gorgeous pink color jari sari  walked up to the stage and received the blessing of her parents before being seated for the ceremonious rituals. The couple married according to Hindu traditions.

#  After their marriage on September 11, the newly married Suriya and Jyotika spoke to media and thanked their fans and well wishers. Jyotika thanked the media and announced that she won’t continue her career in acting, this was really a shocking news for Jyotika’s fans. After the wedding Suriya and Jyotika went to European countries for their Honeymoon…!!!

Special Invitees of the wedding

#  Many leading personalities were invited to witness the stars wedding. The special guests included the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran and many people from the film industry which includes the couples Ajith, Shalini and Dhanush, Aishwarya. More than 1500 guests attended the wedding and blessed the couples.

#  Rajnikant, Kamal Hassan, Prabhu, Satyaraj, Manorama, Maestro Ilayaraja, Ajith – Shalini, Sarathkumar – Radhika, Dhanush - Aiswarya, were among the prominent film personalities who attended the wedding. Later, AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa also visited and blessed the newly wedded couples.

#  The marriage took place amidst tight security. Only guests with marriage invitation are allowed to the hotel to participate in the ceremony. To some extent it disappointed the fans who gathered there to see their favorite stars..!!

Jyothika and Surya’s Baby daughter

#   On August 10, 2007 Jyothika gave birth to a beautiful girl baby..!! Immediately after the labor pain Jyothika was admitted to Apollo Med First hospital in Chennai. Jothika underwent a caesarean operation during the delivery. The baby girl was born at 9.22 p.m. The doctors confirmed that both Jyothika and baby are in perfect health. Jyothika and her baby came home on 15th August.

#   It was said that after perusing the horoscope of the child the family astrologer predicted the bright future.

#  Jothika and Surya after considering the lots of opinions of parents and grand parents named the baby girl as ‘Diya’. It was reported that the name was suggested by Sivakumar. The meaning of the name Diya is light and hence it is somewhere similar to its parents name.
