Nayantara biography facts

#  Nayantara’s birth name is Diana Mariam Kurian. She was born on 18th November 1985 in Bangalore, India to Kurian Kodiyattu and Omana Kurian. Her father served Indian Air Force and she has a brother named Leno who is currently settled in Dubai.

#  Since her father was in Air Force her family moved to various places following his transfer. she studied in several places like Tamil Nadu, Jamnagar, Gujarat, Delhi and Kerala. She attended “Kendriya Vidyalaya” in Kerala. She did her English major at “Marthoma College”, Tiruvalla. She wanted to become a chartered accountant but finally landed in film industry.

#  She had great passion for fassion, while she was in college she used to appear in local ads as a model. Her talent was recognized by director Sathyan Anthikkad and gave her opportunity in Malayalam film Manassinakkare in 2003. Ghajini and Chandramukhi gave her career a real boost establishing among main actresses in the industry.

#  She did her Malayalam debut through “Manassinakkare” in 2003, her Tamil debut was with “Ayya” in 2005 and her Telugu debut was with Lakshmi in 2006. Though she appears in many south Indian films her major focus is on Tamil films.

#  Nayantara converted to Hinduism On 7 August 2011 at “Arya Samaj Temple” in Chennai. Some traditional rituals were performed
according to Vedic principles and a Certificate was issued to that effect. Hence her stage name Nayantara became her official name.

#  She was in news for her relationship with her directors. During filming of “Vallavan” she was linked with Silambarasan but later she gave a public statement that they broke up due to differences. Some pictures showing their intimate relationship appeared on Google but she was bold enough to take it with guts and the media blamed Simbu for releasing such private pics.

#  In 2008 there were rumors about her marriage with director Prabhu Deva. Their relationship started during the filming of “Villu” but none of them spoke about it until September 2010 when Prabhu Deva publicly admitted their love and spoke about their intention to marry soon. It created a great controversy in Tamil Nadu several women organizations protested against their relationship as he was already married to his wife Ramalath and not even a divorce petition filed. His wife Ramalath filed a petition in family court seeking an order to restrain them appearing together as couples in public functions. Later in 2012 Nayantara stated that their relationship was ended due to some personal reasons.

#  She tattooed Prabhu Deva’s name on her wrist and she decided to keep it even after their break up for sometime. She later in an interview stated that she broke up with him as he was not loyal to her.

But I came to cinema without such ambitions. I thought I will act in one film and come out. But after coming into the field I became so involved. I got the name and fame which I never expected.”
